CARLOS HOEFKEN

Carlos Hoefken has been designing and making machinery of all kinds for over 40 years. A serial entrepreneur, he holds several patents related to motion control technology.Carlos studied Industrial Engineering, and then became a plant machinery specialist at a German-run technical school in his native country, Peru, gaining experience in machining, welding, forging, casting, hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity, and electronics. He founded his first two companies in his mid-twenties. His first company was focused on the design and fabrication of lighting devices for public spaces, athletic fields, and warehouses. The second was an aluminum anodizing business where he designed and built the entire system.Carlos arrived in Dallas as a newlywed in 1998; he quickly got an engineering job and enrolled at the University of Dallas to earn his MBA, graduating in 2004.It didn't take long for Carlos to start a custom machinery business, Dynametrics, which evolved into a contract manufacturer. In 2006, he pursued an opportunity to provide engineering and design consulting for large private jets with Associated Air Center. That is also the year he founded MacroLever Inc. to continue working in custom machinery. With MacroLever, he has designed and completed over 50 custom machinery projects, most multi-axis servo systems (see pictures and videos at https://www.macroleverinc.com/ ).In 2013, Carlos patented a novel precision actuator/gear reducer for robotics, which attracted a group of investors to start Motus Labs LLC in 2019. As Chief Technology Officer, he expanded the technology and patented multiple designs including a high precision magnetic encoder combining mechanical, electronics, and machine learning elements.Carlos remains involved in Motus Labs as a technical advisor and board member, but he has relaunched MacroLever to return to his initial passion: designing and fabricating custom machinery for virtually any application.
